Do I have a bad habit?

When I’m feeling productive, when I feel energized, I can keep working all night! Sometimes I look up after a great work session and it’s 3:30 in the morning!!  I wonder where all the time ⌚️went.   My wife went to bed hours ago and my dog, Fred, has been sleeping at my feet the entire time.

Breaking The Rules!

I feel guilty that I stayed up so late working.  I keep remembering what my mom used to say to me all the time,? “Don’t stay up too late.”  I even said those same words to my sons, but lately, I have been breaking that rule almost every night!

Do I have a bad habit?

Is my late-night work sessions a bad habit?

Is this something I need to adjust and change?  What is the impact of so many late nights on me, on my wife, on my clients and most importantly on my ?dog Fred!

I work from home.  I guide leaders to take control of their to-do? list so they can be more efficient, and then we dive into making the work they do every day tie back into their goals and their vision.  It’s great to work helping people and I have not missed a meeting, an obligation or a deadline yet because I slept in or was too tired!  I keep close track of my calendar so I know where I have to be during the day.

I Am Always On Time!

When I had a corporate job I was up at 6 am for 15 years and 4 am for 10 years because I had to be to get to the office on time.  Now that I work from ?home for myself I find I work better in the afternoons, evenings and then late evening.

The more and more I think about it the more and more I believe that the situation I am in allows me to tailor-make my workday.

Let’s look at my situation:

  1. I get my work done;
  2. I feel the most creative at night and come up with some of my best solutions;
  3. I still get eight hours of sleep because I wake up when my body is ready;
  4. I meet the needs of my clients, friends, family, and most importantly, ?Fred!

In the last year and a half, we have all had to adapt to situations the ? pandemic hands us, and those of us lucky enough to work from home have that flexibility to create the work hours that suits us best and meets the needs of the important people in our life.

Adapting to Change

So NO, I don’t have a bad habit!  I am making the best of my situation to be able to work the way I love ❤️at what I love and that keeps me the most productive.
